CoSEIA Membership Application

Membership Categories

Friends of Solar ($200 minimum/no maximum! Non-voting)
Participate in our advocacy, workshops, news and information. Friends of Solar receive member discounts and advertising. Join us in supporting solar energies! Individual membership only -- company listing is not included.

Non-profit/Educational ($350; Voting) Any non-profit educational institution or non-government non-profit organization participating in a venture utilizing solar energy is eligible for this membership. These members shall be accorded full rights and privileges of membership in the Chapter and Association, including the right to vote, hold office, and to chair committees.

Contractor/Corporate ($350-5,000, based on $100 per full-time equivalent employee; Voting) Any company, corporation, or business entity participating in a commercial venture utilizing solar energy. Corporate members shall be accorded full rights and privileges of membership in the Chapter and Association, including the right to vote, hold office, and to chair committees.

Distributor/Financier ($1,500; Voting) Any company, corporation, or business entity whose primary business deals with the financing and/or distribution of solar energy, equipment, or products. Distribution members shall be accorded full rights and privileges of membership in the Chapter and Association, including the right to vote, hold office, and to chair committees.

Manufacturer Any company, corporation, or business entity participating in a commercial manufacturing venture of solar energy equipment. Manufacturer members shall be accorded full rights and privileges of membership in the Chapter and Association, including the right to vote, hold office, and to chair committees.
- Small Manufacturer: 1-20 employees ($1,500; Voting)
- Large Manufacturer: 21+ employees ($3,000; Voting)

Municipal Electric/Co-Op ($1,000; Voting)

Investor-Owned Utility ($5,000; Voting) Any utility participating in a venture utilizing solar energy. Utility representatives members shall be accorded full rights and privileges of membership in the Chapter and Association, including the right to vote, hold office, and to chair committees.

Government Agency ($1,000; Voting) Governmental agencies and any government-supported research laboratory participating in a venture utilizing solar energy. Government representative members shall be accorded full rights and privileges of membership in the Chapter and Association, including the right to vote, hold office, and to chair committees.
Vendor ($500; Voting) Any non-solar Company or Service Provider who supports the use of solar energy and conservation to create a sustainable future.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

One entity, one vote.
Part-time employee is any person working less than 32 hours per week, and equates to 1/2 person.
Every full-time employee of any category is a member. CoSEIA membership cards will be distributed to those persons who want to have one (no more 'additional member' fees).
Only one contact per person; one address and one email per entity.
Companies with offices out-of-state need to include those employees in total employee count for their companies.
Companies wishing to purchase listings in more than one category, must purchase membership at the highest membership level and then pay a $75 fee for each subsequent membership directory category that they wish to be listed in.

Directory Description (voting members only)
Up to 50 words included with membership; $1 per word over 50 words. The CoSEIA office will bill you for additional Directory description words. Please provide documentation for any insurance, licenses, certifications, degrees, etc. being claimed in your company description by sending it to the address below or emailing it to memberservices@coseia.org. You will be contacted to provide further documentation if needed. The CoSEIA Directory is sorted by Installers both Solar Thermal and PV. If you are an Installer, placement in these sections will be determined by the verbiage used in your description.

Membership in CoSEIA comes with the understanding that the member, company and employees, or co-owners will comply with the Association's Code of Ethics and Bylaws. How did you learn about CoSEIA?

Dues and contributions are deductible as ordinary and necessary business expenses for Federal Income Tax purposes. Dues and contributions are not deductible as charitable contributions. The tax deductibility of dues paid to CoSEIA as ordinary business expenses is subject to restrictions imposed as a result of lobbying activities. The portion devoted to lobbying is no longer deductible as a business expense. CoSEIA estimates that the non-deductible portion of your dues for the 2008 tax year is 33%.

Membership application/processing fee: Members who have let their membership lapse and are reinstating their membership are considered new members and must pay the "New Member" application/processing fee. New members will be assessed a new member application/processing fee of $25 as indicated above. Membership categories listed above do not include the New Member fee.

Payments for membership, either online or by check, will be returned if they are not accompanied by a completed membership application.
