General Manager - Boulder, Colorado

We are a growing and successful solar energy integrator that has been in business in the Boulder and Denver Metro area since 2006. We are seeking to fill the General Manager Position as we have promoted our current GM to Director of Operations over our national franchise program.

Overview
The General Manager acts as the head of the company outlet and provides oversight to the day-to-day operations. The GM must thoroughly understand the functions of each department and be able to render decisions in regard to business activity. Key functions include managing and participating in the development process of proposals, and RFP responses as well as maintaining and developing customer relationships. The GM will also provide oversight in the project management of residential and commercial installations and must have the ability to design and install small to large-scale solar arrays. The GM is additionally responsible for maintaining a current comprehension of the competitive market, including an understanding of competitors' products and marketing techniques as well as local, State and Federal incentive programs.

Director of Training - Boulder, Colorado 

We are a growing national solar energy company with an expanding network of franchise partners and dealers. We are seeking a solar electric professional to train and support new and existing franchise partners as well as our growing network of PV dealers. Candidates must be an experienced solar electric professional, with demonstrated expertise in PV installation training. Additional experience in site analysis, design, and performance of PV systems is preferred. The Solar Installation Trainer will work from a standardized training, implement and oversee quality control for franchise partners.  Candidates must be able to communicate effectively and have excellent writing and computer skills. NABCEP certification is a must.

Solar Installer - Boulder, Colorado

Installers are responsible for the hands-on installation of solar electric systems. Duties include assisting sales staff with site-assessments, planning and completing installation, managing inventory and shop organization, maintaining equipment, and interacting with clients. Installers should be competent with hand-tools and power tools, physically fit, capable of working in all weather conditions, detail-oriented, hardworking, and passionate about solar.

Essential Functions
• Install solar electric systems on pitched and flat roofs (predominantly)
• Work on ladders, on roofs of all heights, carry heavy loads
• Take direction from crew leader
• Drive company vehicles (must have valid driver's license, no DUIs)
• Help manage inventory for upcoming installations
• Assist Project Manger in planning installation schedule, organize, fabricate, and load all materials for a job prior to departure
• Coordinate with subcontractors; arrange equipment rental; purchase materials when necessary
• Interface with clients and prospects
• Organize and clean shop; maintain company equipment including vehicles
• Participate in company meetings and events

Job Requirements and Qualifications
Education: High School or Equivalent diploma, college education preferred.
Training Requirements: Solar Energy International (or equivalent)
Knowledge Requirements: Microsoft Word and Excel, e-mail and Internet usage, hand and power tools, construction (NEC, OSHA knowledge a big plus).
Experience (preferred): Solar PV, construction trades, engineering, climbing

Other Information:  Full time position (Monday-Friday) with occasional overtime

Engineering Technology/Renewable Energy Technology Faculty Community College of Aurora

The Community College of Aurora is a dynamic institution now developing new academic programs in the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency fields to serve the needs of a growing student population. The Science Department has put a strong emphasis on hiring creative and effective instructors who engage students in the classroom and online. This faculty member teaches courses in and Renewable Energy Technology focusing on either Solar Photovoltaic or Energy Efficiency depending on background. The successful candidate will be a creative academic leader who works collaboratively with other faculty as well as the college as a whole. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and updating curriculum in compliance with departmental guidelines. This position will participate in other activities, such as, advising, committee assignments, high school recruitment, and other academic and institutional support activities. Faculty responsibilities include: participating in the development of curriculum and the use of current technology; actively engaging students; contributing to the processes of instructional planning and assessment review; pursuit of continued professional development in both subject matter and instructional methods; and supporting student activities.

Site Auditor

The Site Auditor will assist the Lead Site Auditor in providing professional site auditing services to obtain and communicate the necessary technical data to the SolarCity design team for the preparation of permit ready documents needed to facilitate the installation of solar photovoltaic systems. This person will also function as a project manager, field technician, and permit technician when assigned to do so.

Responsibilities include:
• Meet with customers to obtain information necessary to complete technical design documents for a photovoltaic system.
• Develop a positive relationship with customers to establish rapport and to gather facilities assessment data.
• Conduct a physical site audit using auditing tools including a tablet PC, measuring devices, Solmetric equipment, a digital camera, and other related equipment.
• Maintain a job photo log to include but not limited to pre-demolition/construction, progress photos and completed project photos.
• Prepare site audit documents as needed to coordinate with the SolarCity engineering department to produce permit-ready documents.
• Provide and maintain a current driver's license and a clean driving record to safely operate a company vehicle.
• Develop relationships with design professionals and subcontractors to support the business activities.

Requirements:
• A minimum of one (1) to three (3) years experience in a discipline related to construction or building sciences; estimating or site auditing experience is preferred; photovoltaic installation experience is preferred.
• High School or Trade School degree in a discipline related to construction or building sciences, engineering or architecture is preferred.
• Experience with Energy Efficiency is strongly preferred.
• Ability to understand, read, and comprehend contract documents, plans and specifications; ability to stay organized and maintain project records.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills required in order to prepare site audit documents and conduct site audit meetings with customers.
• The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to develop basic formulas typically used and commuted in the construction industry; ability to use formulas to develop spreadsheets as needed and used by SolarCity.
• Strong proficiency with computers and various applications including MS Office, SolarCity proprietary software, and AutoCAD.
• The ability to read plans, specifications, diagrams, equipment submittals, and material data sheets.
• Knowledge of site surveying, construction sequencing, construction methods and materials practices; knowledge of residential electrical systems.

Junior Installer

SolarCity is seeking applicants to install residential grid-tied PV systems. In this position, the Junior Installer will provide support to the crew lead of the installation team, communicate job status data to the operations management, and ensure the completion of installation of all solar arrays/systems. It is the responsibility of every Installer to ensure safe work practices for the SolarCity installation team.

Responsibilities include:
• Attend mandatory training sessions on new products, installation methodology and safety
• Pulling inventory for each installation job, ensuring adequate inventory for truck load
• Pre-assemble job components in the warehouse
• On-site design installation, working off of plan designs
• Layout and assembly of solar modules / array and mounting hardware
• Mechanical/structural mounting of racking, modules and electrical equipment
• Electrical wiring of solar array/system (AC and DC)
• Document completion of job with photos
• Clean up of job site

The ideal candidate must have the following skills and qualifications:
• Previous experience in PV installations, roof work, general construction, or carpentry strongly preferred.
• Basic understanding/experience with electrical wiring of AC and DC systems strongly preferred.
• Experience with the safe use of hand-held and power tools.
• Experience working with all types of building materials - various roof types - stucco, wood, concrete, etc. - strongly preferred.
• Ability to work in extreme environments, e.g. hot sun, crawl spaces, etc.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs.
• Must have a clean driving record.
