Bringing Solar Energy to Colorado |
Solar Rebates are now available in Colorado
Federal Tax Credits - In addition to utility rebates for photovoltaic systems, the federal government is providing a 30% Investment Tax Credit (ITC) for solar electric and solar water heating systems with the credit capped at $2,000 for residential applications. There is no cap for commercial or industrial applications. Your local solar installer can explain the basics of the tax credit program. For all detailed tax questions see a qualified tax professional. This is an ideal time to get started on owning your own solar water heating and/or photovoltaic system for heating you water or generating clean electricity from the sun and reducing your utility bills. Rebates and Federal Tax Credits can cover up to half of the cost of a solar water heating or photovoltaic system -- Contact your local solar installer to learn more about these programs. Xcel Energy: Xcel Energy is offering rebates of $2/Watt (DC) and an additional $2.50/Watt (as adjusted by the PV Watts program) as a "Renewable Energy Credit (REC)" payment for photovoltaic systems.
