2008 Awards

CoSEIA annually solicits from its members nominations for three awards; The Volunteer of the Year Award, The Sunny Award, and The President's Award.

The Volunteer of the Year Award is presented by the CoSEIA Board of Directors to the CoSEIA member who, in the past year has demonstrated the highest level of voluntary service to CoSEIA, over and above the expectations of membership or office. In selecting the recipient for the Volunteer of the Year Award, the Board of Directors considers these criteria:

·    The nature of the services volunteered by the nominee,

·     The amount of time volunteered and

·     The importance of the volunteered service to the CoSEIA mission and goals.

Volunteer Awards Recipients For 2008
This year the award was Presented to Eriks Brolis for his work with the PV Policy Subcommittee and the PUC. Also presented to Rick Coen for his work with the PV Policy Subcommittee and the Colorado Renewable Energy Society (CRES)


The Sunny Award is presented by the CoSEIA Board of Directors to the CoSEIA member who in the past year made the greatest contribution to the advancement of the solar industry in Colorado. In selecting the recipient for the Sunny Award, the Board of Directors considers these criteria:
The nature of the nominee's contribution;

·      The level of effort required by the nominee to make that contribution and

·      The impact of the nominee's contribution on the advancement of the solar industry in Colorado.


Daimon Vilppu

This year the award was present to a repeat winner - Daimon Vilppu. Daimon was recognized for his many years of service for CoSEIA.


The President's Award is presented, at the discretion of CoSEIA's president, in recognition of a special contribution to CoSEIA or the solar industry at large in the past year. The President's Award may be given to an individual or organization, for a single act or project, or for a long-term commitment or program. In selecting the recipient(s) for the President's Award, the president considers these criteria:

·        The nature of the nominee's special contribution and

·        The nominee's commitment to the advancement of solar energy.

Randy Udall

This year’s President's award recipients are Steve Andrews and Randy Udall.

Randy is the former director of CORE (Community Office for Resource Efficiency). He is one of the nation's leading activists in promoting energy sustainability. Recently Randy served on Governor Ritter’s Climate Action Panel. Randy is also the co-founder of the Association for the Study of Peak Oil-USA and speaks on why “energy is an IQ test Americans tend to fail”.

Steve is a co-founder of the Association for the Study of Peak Oil. He has followed the emerging peak oil story since the late ‘70s. He has worked as a consultant, freelance writer and has served on Boards of several non-profits.
